Hello California! Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) is the latest utility to deploy FIDO’s AI-powered Bugs to help find water leaks and save precious water.
CCWD delivers safe, clean water to approximately 500,000 people in central and eastern Contra Costa County in Northern California.
Formed in 1936 to provide water for irrigation and industry, CCWD is now one of the largest urban water districts in California and a leader in drinking-water treatment technology and source water protection.
CCWD was introduced to FIDO through Isle Utilities’ TAG Program. The company was looking to add more tools to help find small leaks within its distribution system. Contra Costa is now using FIDO Bugs as in-field leak detection.
An efficiency tool for distribution leaks
Operations and Maintenance Supervisor Brandon Chalk said: “My role is to efficiently assist in maintaining the distribution system and all of its underground assets to supply our customers with safe and reliable drinking water.
“We are using FIDO AI to help locate and confirm water leaks within our service areas in Northern California. Employees at Contra Costa Water District take extreme pride in delivering great tasting water at the lowest possible cost.
“One aspect in making sure we live up to our standards is repairing our underground assets in a timely and efficient manner. FIDO has assisted in this by confirming if there is a leak on said asset before we excavate which plays an important role in being efficient with our staff.”
